Short Sales generally take more time than a bank owned homes, around 4 months from start to finish. If you can be committed to the home, have some flexibility on price and are working with a agent that knows how to do a short sale, your odds are pretty good that you will get the home, around 80% success.

Bank owned or foreclosed; in this case the bank owns free and clear and has already gone through the foreclosure process. Bank owned homes are also called REO’s short for real estate owned. Bank owned homes take less time to buy, usually around 30 days. In addition bank owned properties are rewarding, in most cases priced below the current market value. Sometimes these homes need work or repairs so make sure you have your tools handy.
