Point Roberts is a unique community in Whatcom County, Washington. While it only boasts a population of about 1,600, (though it swells in the summer to around 4,500) it has some characteristics that set it apart. Point Roberts is a geographical oddity since it is considered part of the United States but is not physically connected to it. It is not an island, however. It is considered a “pene-exclave” of the U.S., and it is located on the southernmost tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula in Canada. The only way to reach Point Roberts by land is by going through Canada. You can, however, travel directly from Washington to Point Roberts by crossing Boundary Bay by sea or air. It has been quoted as being considered, “the best gated community in the U.S.,” since you have to go through the international border twice most of the time. Residents of Point Roberts enjoy an incredibly low crime rate because of this. Because of its convenient location between Vancouver Island and the North Cascades, Point Robert’s residents also receive some of the mildest, sunniest weather in the Pacific Northwest, with a paltry average precipitation a year of 40 inches.
Homes for sale in Point Roberts are incredibly varied. Available real estate in Point Roberts includes a wide range of large, sprawling, waterfront homes to smaller, cozier houses.
